With both sides experiencing different seasons form can go out the window in cup games and cup games against rivals can certainly be unpredictable.

However, both sides will not be concerned about performances but they will be more than concerned with the result as they both look to be in the hat for the semi-final and having bragging rights on Monday morning.

Manchester United: FA Cup run so far

Manchester United have had a favourable run in the FA Cup this season after reaching the final last year. However, despite wins the performances have been poor especially when they were rocked by League Two outfit Newport County who levelled the game from 2-0 down.

With wins against Wigan Athletic and Nottingham Forest, Erik ten Hag will be hoping that his side can grind out a win in the FA Cup using their experience in the competition which has been a good competition for the Dutchman since he arrived last season.

Injuries have hampered United this season and it could be the case again on Sunday with Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Omari Forson, Anthony Martial and Mason Mount will certainly be out but there could be vital returns for Rasmus Hojlund and Harry Maguire.

Liverpool: FA Cup run so far

The eight-time cup competition winners have had a tougher run than their rivals with a third round tie against Arsenal but they saw through that by winning 2-0. Two wins against Championship outfits Norwich and Southampton secured Jurgen Klopp’s men progression to this stage and the keeping hopes alive of a quadruple.

Like United, Liverpool have been ravaged by injuries this season and will be without first team players Thiago, Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Alisson Becker. However, they will be buoyed by the fact that Ibrahima Konate has a chance of featuring against United.

Who will progress to Wembley?

The tie looks like it will only go one way with current league form and with Liverpool already bagging the Carabao Cup this season, they are 4/5 to win away from home in the 90 minutes whereas a United win is 13/5.

With Mo Salah returning to the Liverpool side, his record against United is phenomenal and at 7/2 he is the favourite to score first in the tie. However, United also have a key man returning in Hojlund who is 6/1 favourite to score first in the game.

It would be a huge shock if United progressed in the tie and all signs suggest Liverpool will win the game.
